Length of Service

Having been commissioned in January 1859 and decommissioned in May 1889, it seems to me the final phrase of the third paragraph "nearly half a century" would be more accurate if it were changed to "over three decades," and give a better feel for the ship's service life if an actual length of time is not to be used. Link to United States Ships-of-the-Line

It is my understanding that Brooklyn was a sloop-of-war and not a ship-of-the-line. However, it is listed in the catagory of United States Ships-of-the-line. Shouldn't that be removed?

I've removed references to the Brooklyn being a ship-of-the-line; with only 21 guns she's clearly too small to be classified as such. Arabani ( TalkContribs) 03:28, 18 July 2009 (UTC) reply
