Unit Commendation, Arctic West '67

We received a unit commendation on the 1967 Arctic cruise (along with the Northwind & the Canadian Breaker, McDonald). I still have the ribbon. I believe it was for the furthest North of any surface ship in the Pacific. The position can now be reached without encountering ice! ```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.167.22 ( talk) 15:24, 20 October 2009 (UTC) reply

Source for second paragraph is: http://www.uscg.mil/history/webcutters/Icebreakers.asp, another USCG page. Sammy D III ( talk) 18:04, 12 December 2012 (UTC) reply

There is a USN site on this ship similar to the USCG one at: http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/s18/staten_island.htm. Sammy D III ( talk) 01:05, 13 December 2012 (UTC) reply
