A statement made in popular media - eg. http://www.seaworld.org/animal-info/animal-bytes/animalia/eumetazoa/coelomates/deuterostomes/chordata/craniata/aves/cuculiformes/guinea-turaco.htm is that the colour is soluble in water. This is questioned by later studies but somehow the older idea replicates better due to its shock value.
