Birthplace

This article (I'm not sure whether that site is considered to be a reliable enough source) and the Booneville Herald piece both say he was born in Buffalo. As far as I can tell the BBC article only says he was raised in Coronado. -- Finlay McWalter Talk 14:13, 14 February 2012 (UTC) reply

Good point! The US editors have a thing for putting all associated locations in on their bio articles, so I left the text as was and put both locations in the catagories. He should have had an article ages ago: DSM plus Legion d'Honneur - still, thanks for putting that right. Rgds, -- Trident13 ( talk) 17:07, 14 February 2012 (UTC) reply

Tentative plane details

This forum discussion includes a post by "paulmcmillan", who gives the plane's tail# as G-AGDR (which is listed in our Consolidated Liberator I article, and he's surely right about that). Paul also identifies the attackers as being from No. 317 Polish Fighter Squadron and lists the 5 crew and 4 passengers. Similar details are here. Armed with that info I found this, which reports about the death of the plane's FO, Richard Williamson - it has some details of the official enquiry into the incident. None of this is quite firm enough a RS to make it into the article, in my opinion, but it's an excellent lead. -- Finlay McWalter Talk 22:57, 14 February 2012 (UTC) reply
