TOPMAN is the stand alone business counterpart of Topshop'

Can someone define exactly what "stand alone business counterpart" means? In what sense does Topman "stand alone"?

Response: Whilst stores operate typically within the same premise, the business model separates the brand from TOPSHOP in each store across the UK. Not only are the other contributers to this page correct (as far as I know), this page is extremely dodgy especially the "David" section, which waffles about managers with ambiguous sexuality and a tendency for work experience boys. Following the purchase of the Topman brand by ASOS, I started a clean-up of the article. I have removed a lot of material, some of it also outdated, unsupported by reliable citations. News of recent financial events is reliably sourced, and no longer dependent on primary sources. Accordingly, I have removed the headnotes from the article.
