With pop music you will find a ton of material online about people active today or in recent years, even when the musicians and producers are very much second or third tier in terms of fame and commercial success. On the other hand, you may find very little or no material about people who were hugely successful in the pre-internet age. By this criteria, in the field of pop music, Wikipedia gets very much unfairly weighted towards music of the 2000s. When these current artists fade, will they still be notable, on the grounds that source material about them can still be found online?
I would say Mansfield is mainly known for New Muzik, who WERE very successful. On the other hand, you just removed a large chunk of information from the page that mentioned his various production credits. By doing that, you have made it look like he did nothing except New Muzik, and also that the article is ripe for deletion. Although the information you have taken out was uncited (and there certainly was puffery in the way it was written), I have no reason to believe it to be untrue that he produced a lot of records by well-known artists of the 1980s and beyond. In summary, I disagree that he is non-notable, and I would also argue for the restoration of a pruned version of the section on his various credits.
