Hello JCL, this is my first time doing a full review, so I may screw up in some parts. ABG ( Talk/Report any mistakes here) 23:16, 4 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Done checking QF criteria, no issues, marking. ABG ( Talk/Report any mistakes here) 00:05, 5 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Main

1a- Lead

  • seperate -> separate

Construction

  • post World War II -> post-World War II

Description

  • the Botswana-> Botswana
  • coat of arms are -> coat of arms is

"the political -> "political Batswana -> Botswana

Reference spot checks Many, many paywalled sources that I can't see, so AGF, I'm looking at ones that I can check.

  • 1 - Can't find "Local sculptors expressed disappointment about giving the project to Mansudae" from source 1. Maybe I missed it? Source 2 does support the statement.
  • 3 - Pass
  • 5 - Medium is not considered a reliable source, and while you explained that it is okay in this case, what makes the author's writing reliable when he is a student that has resided in Botswana for a small period? (edit:citation replaced, assessing it later)
  • 7 - Pass

Plagiarism check - cleared (used an alternative as earwig is useless as of now.)

@ AlphaBetaGamma: Batswana is not a typo, it is the plural of a Motswana person. (Motswana is the name given to a person from Botswana) and I have rephrased "The political" to "[Botswana's] political" to make more sense. 48 JCL 01:31, 5 July 2024 (UTC) reply

@ AlphaBetaGamma, I am confused, I thought a GAR was a one man job if you basically completed the entire review? 48 JCL 13:38, 5 July 2024 (UTC) reply
This is my first review and I need someone to see it before submitting it for backlog drive ABG ( Talk/Report any mistakes here) 14:37, 5 July 2024 (UTC) reply
@ 48JCL, As the backlog for the review requests are building up rapidly, it doesn't seem to be getting dealt with soon. I'm going the pass this and have someone see it later. Had fun reading this article as well. ABG ( Talk/Report any mistakes here) 15:47, 5 July 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Hi AlphaBetaGamma, coming in to cross-check. I have some issues with this review:
    • You did not check the licensing status of the images, and File:3_Kgosis_Monument_Image_in_Gaborone1.jpeg gives me some trouble. {{ FoP-USonly}} does not apply to statues and sculptures. I think it is only acceptable as fair use and have added new tags to that image.
    • It lacks thoroughness. There is still a link to a disambiguation page (requiring more source information). One of the paragraphs is a bit of a wall of text, and I would have encouraged making it less clumpy.
The reviewer's promotion was premature, and I almost wonder if this review should be annulled and the article sent back for a GA2 by an experienced reviewer. Pinging 48JCL for visibility. Sammi Brie (she/her •  tc) 03:06, 6 July 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Sammi Brie, I think ABG removed your comment in error when trying to revert the close. I've removed the archive template and I'll open this back up for a second opinion. (Sorry, @ 48JCL!) -- asilvering ( talk) 03:05, 7 July 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Sammi Brie, my mental state is not great, but I will try to address your concerns. I've fixed the dab link and I want to know what is needed to improve the article. 48 JCL 12:04, 8 July 2024 (UTC) reply
The reviewer should also have picked up on the close paraphrasing in the large final paragraph. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 ( talk) 17:59, 8 July 2024 (UTC) reply
@ AirshipJungleman29, not entirely sure what to do here. Do you have any suggestions? 48 JCL 18:09, 8 July 2024 (UTC) reply
I suggest fixing the close paraphrasing by following WP:FIXCLOSEPARA. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 ( talk) 18:16, 8 July 2024 (UTC) reply
If you haven't already started on this I can rewrite that paragraph (probably splitting it up a bit). Recon rabbit 13:38, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply
Reconrabbit, thank you. I think this could help. Template:48JCLsignature 14:10, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply
