Inconsistency between sources
The
1911 Britannica entry notes that Tryon moved to London in 1652 (see
link). However, according to Aithen (1889), he moved in 1651 (see
link). Which is more reliable and which date should be noted? -- Black Falcon(

He was born in September 1634 and moved to London at the age of eighteen according to his memoirs, so 1651 cannot be correct.

Remark
Tyron was a beaver hat maker (DNB s.v. Tyron), which eventually caused the virtually extermination of these animals. He traveled as far as to the Antillas "making beavers". He earned his living (lifelong) processing the skins of animals exclusively killed for the purposes of fashion and military equipment, beaver hats being part of the standard equipment of the military at the time.
This seems to be a somewhat blatant contradiction to his professed vegetarianism. What did his coevals made of this inconsistency? tkp — Preceding

This article makes no reference to Tryon as a sugar merchant, nor his and his descendants association with Barbados. Additional references have been added to balance the over reliance on a few sources. This article needs to be reviewed and acknowledgement made of Tryon's less than salutary life. — Preceding
