The article says he was divorced in 1925, and there is no evidence that his subsequent companion (Lilian Elwyn Elliott) either divorced her husband or married Joyce. Then we read “His wife came with him in 1929 and she changed her interests, spending the next ten years in complementary studies and writing. Elliott, Joyce's partner still took a great interest in anthropology even after Joyce died.”
Are we to understand that his (ex-)wife traveled with the pair after her divorce and remarriage? If so, it should be worded much more strongly to emphasize that the implausible is actually the case. More likely is that Elliot picked up his interests, so the text should read something like “Elliot came with him....” and “She still took a great interest....”
Can anyone who actually knows about him clarify this?
