The following is a closed discussion of a
requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a
move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: 1st page: not moved, and 2nd page: moved. See consensus to both not move the first page to the proposed title and to qualify the 2nd page while redirecting the base name to the
Thomas Shannon dab page. As for renaming the first article to a shorter, qualified title, both names appear to be common names as one editor mentioned. So there is no prejudice if editors want to debate that in a future RM. Have a Great Day and

Oppose 1st, move to
Tom Shannon (diplomat) per the news "Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Tom Shannon is retiring and will leave after a replacement is announced.". Support 2nd as
Thomas Shannon is a dab page, with three Tom Shannons this should point there.

Oppose 1st – no primarytopic; keep the disambig page. Support 2nd so that
Tom Shannon can redirect to
Thomas Shannon like iio says.

Oppose 1st (subject appears to be as widely referenced by his full official name as by the short form, "Tom Shannon") and Support 2nd per In ictu oculi and Dicklyon.
