Would this article not be better named "The Old Brewery"? It is a specific location rather than a type of brewery. Greenmaven ( talk) 04:11, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
It's done. Best wishes Greenmaven ( talk) 05:27, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Since this will probably come up again, we should lay to rest Herbert Asbury's statement that the Old Brewery was the scene of a murder a day for fifteen years. The entire city did not reach the level of a murder a day until well into the 20th century (when the population of the city was, of course much higher); see http://qz.com/162289/217-years-of-homicide-in-new-york/. According to Tyler Anbinder (and the graph linked to above appears to bear him out) there were fewer than thirty murders a year in the entire city during the relevant period (Anbinder, Five Points, (2001) p.70). Even allowing for a generous number of unreported murders, Asbury's claim is, as Anbinder says, "ridiculous." 850 C ( talk) 01:47, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Wouldn't it be helpful to indicate where exactly the Old Brewery stood? Mpaniello ( talk) 15:03, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
