What exactly has happened to Florence's child (John Thomas) - did he die, or was he removed from her care? I guess one could interpret it either way - at the end of the play the doctor asks: "Does Florence see that her child was taken from her? Does Fairy see what the mirror should tell her?" [1]

The Czech TV film adaptation of the play, Záhadná paní Savageová, expressly takes the latter interpretation, by translating the line as: "Vidí snad Florence, že jí z moci úřední odebrali dítě?" - Mike Rosoft ( talk) 19:00, 11 June 2024 (UTC) reply
