Thank you for your kind comments. I have also looked at various MoS pages, and cannot find a definitive answer. However, almost all non US articles carry the name of the nation when a geographical area is named so I tend to regard that as the "universal" convention. Regarding the USPLACE determination, I think that the relevant nation is part of the article content so forms part the explanatory text. Cheers,
