Obviously, they are two spellings of the same name. They should be merged to whichever is the correct spelling.

overthrew?
Should we really be saying "Poseidon overthrew him and became the new sea god.". That seems like bad genealogy to me... If Thaumas is the son of Pontus & Gaia... wouldn't that make him primordial? Primordials give rise to the Titans , which in turn give rise to the Olympians... the monologous term "god(s)" is counter-intuitive, especially so in this case. Thaumas isn't even in the wet domain... Thaumas is a boundary... the mirrors reflection, so to speak... If anything, Poseidon would have overthrown Pontus, but that doesn't even make sense! You don't overthrow your domain... you own it.
