Can this be the right word for this weapon? Tepoz- would suggest it's made of metal, and so would refer to a European lance (like a tepozmacquahuitl is a European sword, as opposed to a wooden macquahuitl). --

Good point - it is however the name it is known by in the scholarly literature. It is also found in Molina with the same meaning - but you are probably right that the prehispanic weapon originally had another name.

Tepoztopilli War
tepoztopilli wars could have been a spearhead wars between the city states of Mesoamerica all of them trying to migrate towards the ancient and massive city of Tenochitlan.
