To the best of my knowledge, her last name is spelled VanDerveer, with a capitalized D in the middle. See http://gostanford.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/vanderveer_tara00.html (on the Stanford University athletics web site). Richwales 07:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

... before Sphilbrick got to work, this article on a coach of the stature of VanDerveer was the next thing to a stub?? And now, the DYK aside, it's GA-level at least? Very well done. Ravenswing 01:57, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
The 1981-82 season is listed in the info box as a Big Ten Championship. This seemed to conflict with the media guide which referred to 1982-83 as the first year of the Big ten (for women). I wrote to someone at the Big Ten, who confirmed "The 1981-82 season is a Big Ten Championship for Ohio State, which will also be reflected in our 2012-13 media guide." I'll add a ref when it comes out, and update the coaching box then. I won't bother changing the info box, just to change it back.-- SPhilbrick (Talk) 13:44, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

The infobox, the inline text, and the tables all have completely different numbers for her total number of career coaching wins. I can't, for the life of me, figure out what's accurate, since things are all over the place. Given that Geno Auriemma has a shot at tying Pat Summitt on the win list on Thursday, it'd be ideal if that can be straightened out before then. The section about Ohio State is terrible. It talks about the crowd at one single game. Who cares. It should be about what she did and what she accomplished during her tenure there. Someone really needs to update it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.27.94.61 ( talk) 00:18, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
The college head-coaching record table includes 1995 – 96, which is an error because while that is the correct record for the school Tara took a year off for the Olympics. The table for the school correctly includes this year and correctly identifies that Amy Tucker and Marianne Stanley with the head coaches that year.
It doesn't make sense to keep the year in and add a note that Tara wasn't the coach that year. My current thinking is that I should remove the year but leave a gap to visually indicate that something is missing. The good news is that the numbers for that year were not accidentally included in the totals although there are other problems with the totals that I'm pursuing. For example, the record for 2015 – 16 is shown as 28 – 8, which does match the value shown on the school's website but doesn't match NCAA numbers. I think it's simply a mistake. I've written to the school to ask for clarification but I plan to change it to 27 – 8.
The subtotals were also mangled which I will fix.
I'm open to thoughts on the best way to handle the 1995 – 96 year if you think it should be something other than removing and leaving a gap. S Philbrick (Talk) 14:55, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
