I have to say this is a strange choice for an article on the main page. As far as I can tell, this boosterish article is about a Bengali family that claims several more clearly illustrious members, and other more debatably notable ones. In any case, there are POV and sourcing problems riddled through the article starting from the first line - what on earth does it mean that this family "exercised the greatest influence in reawakening the Bengali spirit", and is it solid fact that they did so? Likely candidate for afd if it were not on the main page Bwithh 04:56, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
reawakened the Bengali spirit? what is that?
This is informative and well written. The tags seem to be unjustified. They should be removed. Like all other articles, it can be improved still further. -- Seejee 00:09, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
First line is still problematic:"The Tagore family, with over three hundred years of history, has been one of the leading families of Kolkata, which exercised great influence on the Bengali culture, reawakened by the renaissance". This needs context - did this family become famous only during the renaissance or before that? is this intending to say that the renaissance lasted 300 years? "influence" and "culture" and "one of the leading families" are vague and could be more precise Bwithh 00:35, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
I just changed the subheading "Jorasanko house" to "The House of Jorasanko" as the section underneath describes a "house" in the sense of a distinguished family rather than an actual physical location/family home. However, I see that the subsection "Jorasanko environment" talks of Jorasanko as if it is a physical family home/location. Which is it? Perhaps these two sections can be merged?
