Hello. I proposed some kind of merger of TX-0 resources to include Expensive Tape Recorder here and didn't get much support ( archive). At this time it would probably look unbalanced but it is OK from my point of view in the future if it helps. Best wishes. - Susanlesch 06:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
I thought that PDP-1 serial number 1 went to J.C.R. Licklider at Bolt Beranek and Newman (BBN) and functioned at BBN for decades.

The web site dedicated to the tixo, Tixo.Org, is starting to appear again after being offline for some significant time. I would be happy if someone would reinstate it as an external link if appropriate. -- 85.226.77.16 ( talk) 21:35, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
The current revision of this page contains the text "a 12" oscilloscope hooked to output pins of the processor". What's that supposed to mean? It sounds like a 21st century viewpoint of both processors and pins. I propose removing the reference to processor and pins. Groogle ( talk) 02:55, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
This may or may not be accurate, but since there are no citations for the history of the TX-0 and TX-2, it's worth noting that Severo Ornstein claims in Computing in the Middle Ages that the TX-1 preceded the TX-0:
Prior to TX-2 there had been a TX-1 and, following that (oddly enough) a TX-0. TX-1 was the first of the series. It was to have been a vacuum-tube machine designed as a test-bed for the first large core-memory array. But the design was never approved and the machine was never built. Instead Clark and Olsen proposed another machine, TX-0, for the purpose, to be built using transistor circuits designed by Olsen and other members of the group.

Also corroborated in Waldrop, M. Mitchel (2001) The Dream Machine, p. 145 (footnote) "It was after the Lincoln Lab higher-ups vetoed [the TX-1], suggesting that the members of the advanced computing group might want to walk before they tried to run, that Clark came up with the TX-0 design. Olsen and Clark later joked that they'd decided not to build the TX-1 because they didn't like the color scheme." Fourthark ( talk) 14:50, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
the quote above about the cancellation of the TX-1, "the members of the advanced computing group might want to walk before they tried to run," suggests that there were elements of the TX-1 design that were more ambitious? Especially since the TX-1 design was vacuum tubes, standard technology at the time, and the TX-0 was to be transistors, new technology, there must have been some other elements of the TX-1 design that were left out of the TX-0 to make this quote make sense. Perhaps those are the ideas that were immediately proposed for the TX-2? Not sure if the sources exist, but a clearer picture of the history would be nice compared to what's there now. 2603:8001:D300:A631:0:0:0:1D29 ( talk) 19:16, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
edit: it's not an oh, it's a zero, but the font style makes digits show up short and squat, see TX-10 for example — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8001:D300:A631:0:0:0:1D29 ( talk) 04:51, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
the URL for this page is /info/en/?search=TX-0 with a zero, but for some reason the Title of the page (above the lede) shows up as TX-o. I don't know how to edit this. 2603:8001:D300:A631:0:0:0:1D29 ( talk) 19:21, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
