Hedin unhappily transferred his admiration for Ferdinand von Richthofen, Dr Supan etc. to the political regime and thereby failed to modify his attitude towards Germany prior to and during the war. Deeper sympathies with Nazi ideology can be ruled out based on the humanistic values expressed in Hedin's major works.
How about stating something like the following: "In spite of his Jewish descent, of which he was openly very proud, he supported Hitler and the National Socialists as a necessary counterweight to the Soviet Union." Alloco1 21:55, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I believe "supported" is too strong. What about: "…, Hedin during the 30ies came to give the Hitler regime a certain acknowledgement, based on a persisting illusion that this was destined to constitute a counterweight to the Soviet Union and to restore the German self-esteem".
"Although he was not a National Socialist, Sven Hedin’s incredible naivety and gullibility as well as his illusive hope that Nazi Germany would protect Scandinavia from invasion by the Soviet Union brought him in dangerous proximity to representatives of National Socialism, who exploited him as an author" How is this neutral? And even correct by very common knowledge? Surely Adolf the Hitler would have let his biggest source of ore be invaded by his biggest adversary only because he was very very evil? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.216.186.173 ( talk) 11:57, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
The new addition of "geopolitician" (a neologism?)--what does everyone think of its use? Thanks -- Dpr 02:06, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

I'm not able to correct the error that I've found, hence my request for assistance. In the map - displayed halfway through the article - File:Exploring expeditions of Sven Hedin 1886-1935.jpg there is a grave error. The second expedition noted in this map - marked by a blue line - is thought to have lasted from 1890 till 1991, which - I must confess - is quite a stretch to be away from the Missus and domestic issues plaguing the weary traveller. I've tried uploading own works to the commons - thusfar unsuccessfully - so I'd be pleased if some kind spirit would change these dates to the correct ones; 1890 - 1891. I cant find a mentioning of Hedins parents in this article. Surely he had them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.64.98.20 ( talk) 15:20, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Sven Hedin admitted himself his mistake. E.g the book by Peter Hopkirk - Foreign Devils On The Silk Road ISBN-13: 978-0719564482 contains an extract content from Hedin where he describes the destruction of the expedition. Korina ( talk) 06:49, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
