I used that source at List of most massive black holes about three hours before this was posted here. ☆ Bri ( talk) 04:57, 30 March 2023 (UTC) reply

Less technical explanation of the maximum mass limit

I would love a less technical description of what causes the maximum mass limit. I am not capable of writing it myself and the current version is hard to decipher for a non-expert. Pastej ( talk) 07:32, 30 March 2023 (UTC) reply

Are you referring to the limit based on Eddington luminosity? Praemonitus ( talk) 13:37, 30 March 2023 (UTC) reply

Supermassive Black Hole (SBH)

The abbreviation of the three words supermassive black hole is the three letters SBH. 2607:FB91:1993:15C9:528:B285:B138:9C93 ( talk) 21:55, 14 August 2023 (UTC) reply

True, but a majority of published scientific papers use the SMBH abbreviation. Perhaps this is because it is more distinctive in searches? Regardless, both uses should be mentioned for this reason. Praemonitus ( talk) 03:12, 15 August 2023 (UTC) reply
The astronomy literature uses SMBH vastly more than SBH. We should follow the literature here. - Parejkoj ( talk) 16:29, 15 August 2023 (UTC) reply
Also, SBH is an abbreviation of stellar black hole, so SMBH avoids ambiguity. Praemonitus ( talk) 01:46, 16 August 2023 (UTC) reply
