I don't think I've met an astronomer who uses "micrometers" rather than microns. Jleous 02:57, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
I realize that this is a discussion that was held a long time ago, but I would like to say that all astronomers use the term "micron" and not "micrometer". For example, check http://www.jach.hawaii.edu/JCMT/continuum/intro.html and http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/geninfo/. These are two websites for major telescopes in infrared and submillimeter astronomy, and they use micron. The references given by Bobblewik are exceptions. GeorgeJBendo 16:39, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
