Unimportant?

I'm going to be the bad person here and ask if this is really a notable subject. I mean, I like Percy Jackson as much as anyone else, but it's a made-up type of metal in one book series - and I might add, not even a super notable book series at that (not classic or anything). Just wondering if anyone else agrees.... PrincessofLlyr ( talk) 03:13, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Yup, but I was debating on how to get about saying it. We could make a list of fictional PJ things, such as his sword, etc. I dunno... Airplaneman talk 06:52, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
Honestly, I would say that it is completely unnecessary to go into any more detail than a basic mention, for instance, a brief explanation on Nico's page. It would probably count as fancruft if we did any more. The same goes for celestial bronze, etc. PrincessofLlyr ( talk) 16:10, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
I'm not sure we should smash it in with celestial bronze. I understand your point, however. I'll add some refs and look for more info in the books.-- iBen talk/ contribs 18:30, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
Um, there already is a section about Stygian iron in the celestial bronze page and it's almost identical to this article. I'm not going to argue about the references, I'm talking about notability. I honestly don't think Stygian iron is notable enough to deserve its own article. PrincessofLlyr ( talk) 18:57, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
checkY I see your point, however, what says celestial bronze is notable?-- iBen talk/ contribs 18:59, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
I certainly don't, but I thought I would leave that alone until we got this settled. My preference would be to merge both of those into the appropriate articles and turn their separate articles into redirects. PrincessofLlyr ( talk) 19:01, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Er.. isn't that what we've been trying to do? Please take a look at WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I like the idea of merging the two, as they alone have no potential of reaching GA status. There's just not enough info. Airplaneman talk 19:17, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
Well, they are essentially merged already. Take a look at Celestial bronze. So, what about a basic explanation when they show up in a plot summary and a more in-depth explanation on say, Nico's page for Stygian Iron and Percy's page for celestial bronze. Or the main PJ and the Olympians page, but that one is already a bit long....just ideas. PrincessofLlyr ( talk) 19:28, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply

I like the idea of mentioning them on the character pages. Maybe we should just describe the fictional metals every time they are mentioned? Just some more ideas. Airplaneman talk 19:34, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Sure, that sounds good. I mean, explain the first time its mentioned or another mention far away. Like the way you do a link. I think that would work, especially if we redirected these articles to an in-depth explanation on the character pages. That way anyone searching for them would be able to find it easily. (I'm an inclusionist at heart!) PrincessofLlyr ( talk) 19:48, 6 February 2010 (UTC) reply
