Stats All these stats were just copied from baseball-reference.com, these should be on a seperate page in WikiSource (Steve Garvey Baseball Stats), with the highlights here. Opinions? WikiDon 11:13, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Wow, I came here to look for any info re: Garvey's HR off Lee Smith in the 1984 NLCS and could barely find any baseball info through the controversies and personal stuff! This sounds more like a gossip column than an encyclopedia article! Any chance someone could try to balance it out a little or do I need to do it myself? — Wknight94 ( talk) 14:17, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree. Steve Garvey was a great baseball player. The article should be devoted to what he did. Further, the information about his alleged affairs isn't supported by the references. I deleted that portion of the article. Never been to spain 20:45, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Should something be said about steves 193 game errorless streak; the longest errorless streak of an infielder in MLB history?-- Gephart 14:31, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Should have a paragraph on his status with hall of Fame. For comparison Keith hernandez does have a paragraph on this. Yes, I see soimiliar entry in the to do seciton for article above, Leaving this for example. cross reference 74.214.39.190 ( talk) 19:42, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
There is no mention of his out-of-wedlock children, his close to $1 million in debt, and his apparent allergic reaction to paying his debts. The fact that he projected himself as "Mr. Clean," and it wasn't actually true, makes this absence all the more striking.
And there is also a lot missing about his career. Frankly, considering how incomplete the article is, it might be appropriate to delete it and start again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.232.189 ( talk) 15:01, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Since an editor keeps removing this less-than-flattering section, I think we should discuss it here. I'm not 100% convinced it's notable. The source is a single Sports Illustrated article by Rick Riley (who, IMO, isn't the greatest journalist ever). I would be OK with pruning down the section. Even though it's sourced, it's just a single source...is that enough for WP:BLP? — X96lee15 ( talk) 16:11, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Baffling that Garvey's experience in the 1984 World Series (good or bad) is not even mentioned. Not a word. Smilo Don ( talk) 15:48, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
