Terminology
Is the term "spokestoon" really used only for pre-existing cartoon characters used in advertising?
Googling for "spokestoon" shows that it's used to describe any cartoon character that represents a product. —

Why is this written with an entirely unrealistic viewpoint?
This is written as if cartoon characters have agency. Donald Duck joined the war effort? Cartoon characters are hired? The entire article is questionable.
