I think this is not an entirley fair statement, the compnay was still a very successful outfit, especially as a family business, when Ellerman bought it. It was heading for harder times, but if not for the personnel troubles it probabaly would not have been sold to Ellerman anyway. A link to Sowald Sanderson may be worthwhile as well, as his relationship with Ellerman is indicitive of the sort of person Ellerman was and how he ran his business.
