...about that last line about her sister, i heard in an interview with Shirley Manson that she was the middle child of three daughters, meaning she would have two sisters. Could someone verify? thanks. -[[user:themarcuscreature}|marcus]]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 21:40, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Garbage a GRUNGE band???????? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.185.161 ( talk) 21:52, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Having Nirvana's producer Butch Vig in the band, does not make them grunge! Alternative pop/rock.
I went ahead and removed it. The Garbage page doesn't list grunge as one of their genres, so it makes no sense to have it here. Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie and Angelfish certainly weren't grunge either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.205.2.82 ( talk) 19:17, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Does Shirley Manson bear any relation to the American musician Marilyn Manson? I think a quick clarifying note about whether they are related or just co-incidently have the same surname be placed in the article.
PS. The american musician, Marilyn Manson's REAL NAME is Brian Warner. Marilyn Manson was a name for the band, which was originally called 'Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. The name, mm, just a twist between Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, as a metaphor-type thing. Meaning Marilyn Monroe had some bad in her and Charles Manson had some good in him.
So, no, I don't believe the two are related.
My research has her name spelt Shirley Anne Manson [1], [2], [3] [4], not as shown in the main article. Can someone verify either way ?

The last item in the trivia section about "pee and shit and menstrual blood" is salacious, but not particularly meaningful outside of her '10 Commandments'. I urge that either that last item be removed, or preferably, the 10 Commandments be included as it adds a new and interesting dimension to her personality. -- UnicornTapestry ( talk) 05:25, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

It is rumoured that Shirley Manson has earned a regular role on Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
On "Sarah Connor," produced by Warner Bros. TV, Scottish musician Manson will play Catherine Weaver, the CEO of a cutting-edge high-tech company. Confirmed Here
Are There Any Other Confirmations?

Skullan ( talk) 17:50, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Moved the blurb about her acting into its section. She will and does (as see by people on TV) have a recurring role on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and it is a seperate concept than her music, plus it is worthy of more than just a mention in her 'Solo' section.
The article seems to suggest (in Life and Career) that Maurice the Minotaur was put on by either the City of Edinburgh Music School or the Waverley Singers. In fact it was put on by the, now defunct, Edinburgh Youth Theatre in Baden Powell House, Fishers Close, Edinburgh. It was directed by David Clayton and Bruce Henderson with words and music by Iain Johnston and Gavin Pagan. Shirley also won plaudits for other Edinburgh Youth Theatre shows including "The Gollywog" and "The Scatterbrained Scarecrow of Oz". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.193.211.242 ( talk) 15:16, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

On the Garbage page, I've removed the lines "Manson is reluctant to talk about her album, preferring to wait until it is released in early 2008. Manson was scheduled to finish recording the album in September 2007." Clearly, this information is out of date: if anyone has any references about a new release date (or any pertinent information at all about the album), the article would benefit from this information being added Dom Kaos ( talk) 15:25, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Manson presented the material to Geffen in 2008, who rejected it. She is continuing to record outwith filming commitments re: the articles and interviews sourced on the Shirley Manson page. She has also stated this in person on her own Facebook page, the Carson Daly show, Chelsae Lateley and Spike Feresten. Breakinguptheguy ( talk) 01:44, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Can I just air my issue with this section - I believe it was removed from the page a long time ago, although I don't recall by whom or why, and I don't know who added it back later, but anyway -
Manson is an Atheist. Although she was raised Presbytarian, Manson renounced the religion at age 12. During a 1998 interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, when asked if she believed in God, she replied "No, not at all."
I'm uncomfortable with the inclusion of this statement. I'm not denying that the article states these facts, however I do question wether it is appropriate to potentially libel Manson as an athiest with a statement sourced from an interview in a music magazine which was published in late 1998. There has been, to date, eleven years in which Manson may have re-evaluated her faith or lack thereof. I think if there isn't a relevant statement from Manson about her faith recorded in recent times then this statement should be removed as the current accuracy of the statement would be in dispute and libellious.
Also, because the statement contains numerous spelling and grammatical errors and a lack of italicisation of Rolling Stone [magazine] makes me suspect that this statement was added by User:Nimbley6, a blocked member's sockpuppet username that I have encountered over the last year. The article is reproduced here: http://garbage.net/garbage/articles/@rolling98.htm I still stand by my past stance on the inclusion of the above "facts". Breakinguptheguy ( talk) 04:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Why does it state "model" next to Occupations under the Background Info? doing a shoot once early in the career does not make anyone a model, something Manson unquestionably isn't. Many, many people have done that, across vary professions. Cate Blanchett, an actress, for example, has done an inordinate amount of shoots, attended many fashion events, signed deals with fashion designers, as is not ever labeled or considered a model, rightfully so. A singer-songwriter/musician certainly shouldn't.
Is there any objection to this? I believe it should be removed. Makes no sense. Again, doing a shoot just means you did a shoot or modeled (verb) once for whatever, not that you are professionally a model. Nonsense. -- Lapadite77 ( talk) 02:07, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
I echo what I wrote in Garbage's Talk page: "There should be one created. Both Garbage and Shirley Manson have influenced a myriad of artists and pop music/culture (musically, image-wise, attitude, etc), during their time and today. Many artists have mentioned their influence (along with Shirley Manson's), especially current artists. I feel this section should be created, with citations from particular artists themselves and publications that have written about this". Artists (past and current) have also expressed their admiration of Shirley Manson and/or Garbage without necessarily claiming influence. -- Lapadite77 ( talk) 06:24, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
