The company grew out of Sharp, Roberts & Co., about which the description is poor. There is a much better description of the SR&Co. days (twice as long, and twice as detailed) in a dedicated section of a page about Richard Roberts (engineer) - but I cannot link directly to it because it's only a section. Quoting the page's section title as a link doesn't seem to pick it up, doesn't generate a working link. Perhaps the only solution is to copy most of the Roberts' section about SR&Co. over into this SS&Co. page.

You can link to article sections, by using the # character between the article name and the section name, like this: [[Richard Roberts (engineer)#Sharp, Roberts & Co.|insert text to display here]] which shows as
insert text to display here. --
