I think it might look better and be easier to read if there are headings for each of the series, agree? Padishar 23:55, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
The criticism documentation of the sword of shannara does not belong under the section heading of the first trilogy it is well documented and appropriate on the sword of shannara page. Thus that single line of criticism documentation has been removed from this section.
According to the article the books are chronologically set in the following order:
As you can see The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara Trilogy appears both in year 0 (year numbers are made up for this post) and year 950. So which is it? Same time as the First King of Shannara or approximately 950 years after the First King of Shannara? -- John Lynch 08:08, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- The prequel The First King of Shannara is set during the lifetime of Jerle Shannara
The listing of series is pretty much in chronological order of publication, except the Word/Void trilogy is listed second-to-last. It actually came out after First King and before the Voyage trilogy. Wouldn't it be better to place it there? I can't think of a good justification for having it where it is. I imagine it was there because it was unsure if it was Shannara's world, and then it stayed there when the Genesis series was added at the end, but it seems as if it's justification for being listed last is no longer relevant. Is there any information out there on how the word is pronounced? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.63.19.210 ( talk) 22:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Do we really need a seperate section here, seems like we could merge it with the list of novels section, maybe a small paragraph about the family is warranted but do we need to outline how the family is involved or not in each book? Especially when we would do that anyway in a good book summary section. Nowimnthing ( talk) 20:42, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Who is Jerle Shannara? Why isn't this explained in the Character section? The link associated with his name is BS. It simply reverts back to the top of the section. Explaining who he is would seem intrinsic to this article. Gil gosseyn ( talk) 05:07, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
The article claims this is High Fantasy, yet Shannara actually exists on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Going on what the Low Fantasy article states, this would classify as Low Fantasy. "Low fantasy can be described as non-rational events occurring in a rational setting." Ben Mabbott ( talk) 15:30, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
As the subject states, the chronological listing of the novels is missing the short stories and the graphic novel. Of course, once they are added, the name of the section might need to be changed from "Chronological List of Novels" to show that it includes those missing items.
Paladins of Shannara 01 - Allanon's Quest is an e-book short story set directly before The Sword of Shannara.
Paladins of Shannara 03 - The Black Irix is an e-book short story set soon after The Sword of Shannara.
Paladins of Shannara 02 - The Weapons Master's Choice is an e-book short story set sometime before The Wishsong of Shannara.
Indomitable is a short story published in the anthology Legends II, set a few years after The Wishsong of Shannara.
The Dark Wraith of Shannara is a Graphic Novel that shows part of the events of Indomitable, along with a continuation of the story.
There are two other short stories, according to the main Terry Brooks article:
Walker and the Shade of Allanon (Spring 2013) (short story published in Unfettered: New Tales by Masters of Fantasy - This short excerpt is more of a deleted scene than a short story, and takes place during chapter eight of The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara 01: The Ilse Witch.
Imaginary Friends (1991 & Spring 2013) (Word/Void short story published in anthology Once Upon a Time: A Treasury of Modern Fairy Tales, re-published in Unfettered: New Tales by Masters of Fantasy.- Hmm, having JUST NOW read this story, I'd say it shouldn't be included in the chronological listing. It's not a Word/Void story per se, but rather a short juvenile adventure story that shares elements from the later Word/Void works. Terry Brooks described it as a prototype to the Word/Void trilogy. 24.253.192.189 ( talk) 22:41, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Links on the page to The Four Lands and The Great Wars go to this article itself, which has minimal information on The Four Lands (and the link goes to the top of the Shannara article rather than to the section on the Setting) and even less about The Great Wars - with the GW link redirecting again to the top of the Shannara article rather than anywhere useful. Perhaps someone versed in Wikipedia policy could untangle these? Rmsgrey ( talk) 14:22, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Types of mythological or fantastic beings in contemporary fiction is a page of, well, fantasy series (movie, TV, written, whatever) and the assorted mythological and/or fantastic critters they contain. This series would qualify. Anyone care to add it? Tamtrible ( talk) 01:07, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
