I find the renaming doubtful. None of the royal family members are commonly called 'saints' and the links redirect to completely different people. The paragraph seemed POV to begin with (Bolshevism?) Zazaban ( talk) 06:46, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Please add references to statements about renaming. I also expect that the requests came from notable sources, not some random neo-monarchist. - Altenmann >t 22:47, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

It seems the archipelago was briefly known, in the late 1920s/early 1930s, as Lenin Island, even outside of the USSR. Take a look at this early 1930s map, specifically the close-up (in the middle tier) of the Arctic Ocean: https://www.etsy.com/se-en/listing/680321313/1930s-vintage-north-south-pole-map 188.150.64.106 ( talk) 23:42, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
