The first paragraph in this section needs to be rewritten. The syntax makes in unclear whether what follows is about Alexander or Sergei. Erogerg ( talk) 19:17, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
The list should be merged. There's no need for a separate article for such a short list. Kelly Martin 04:32, May 22, 2005 (UTC)
The article mentions (but doesn't reference) Taneyev's supposed alcoholism in his later years. However, I remember reading (have to look it up) about him being a tee-totaller for all of his life. The two don't seem to be compatible, somehow, so which is it? -- User:Ilja.nieuwland 15:41, 9 december 2008 (GMT+1)

During the time of the Russian Empire, subjects of the Russian Empire were of many nationalities. Using Russian as a description for those from the Russian Empire is no longer done by reliable sources. They say the person is from the Russian Empire, and may further designate the person's ethnicity, but the default descriptor in reliable sources is now from the Russian Empire. John Pack Lambert ( talk) 15:16, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
The title of this article gives his name as Sergei. Yet, the first paragraph immediately gives his name as Sergey. Should this be cleaned up, one way or the other, throughout the article?
