The text says: "Seppuku was used by warriors to avoid falling into enemy hands and to attenuate shame and avoid possible torture."
If so, why choose such a complicated, time-consuming and arbitrarily painful (in other words, torturous) way of doing it? There are many faster ways, such as simply "stab(-bing) himself in the throat, or fall(-ing) (from a standing position) with the blade positioned against his heart", which the text says was done anyway after slicing the abdomen. 62.73.69.121 ( talk) 09:31, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
