This article makes semiconductor photodetectors sound much less significant than they actually are (gamma rays and x rays?). They are extremely important for fiber optical communications. My opinion is that photodetector should be expanded upon, and some of the information from this article should be in
photodetector. --

Hi, I'm a passing nuclear engineer. The best source for the information in this section (which is ftr more or less accurate) would be Knoll's book on detectors. I currently am not in a position to add these references. But if someone is feeling up to it, then that's where you can find it.
