Grammar

Until the 1980s, the term watchman was more commonly applied to this function, a usage dating back to at least the Middle Ages in Europe where there was no form of law enforcement (other than it being a private matter).

The phrase "other than it being a private manner" doesn't make sense grammatically. Maybe "no form of public law enforcement" would be better?

I also don't see a source for this, but I may have just missed it. 138.88.143.153 ( talk) 22:37, 22 March 2022 (UTC) reply

Yeah. I made an edit [1] to remove it. It's just unclear, and likely not necessary. signed, Willondon ( talk) 00:10, 23 March 2022 (UTC) reply
