the only reason this page was changed to fourth is because Tony the Marine Changed it without doing any research on the topic. If all the battles of San Juan are labeled as one, two, three, and so on, this would be the fifth battle of San Juan not the fourth. So please cease changing the name of the engagement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TJ13090 ( talk • contribs) 19:23, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
I was just wondering if anybody knew what the First Battle of San Juan was during Spanish-American War. I was thinking it must be the initial establishing of the blockade and the bombardment of San Juans fortifications. Just curious, please let me know what you all think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TJ13090 ( talk • contribs) 02:40, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
I would like to know why this page has been changed to the Fourth Battle of San Juan. Its rediculous to call it the fourth battle because the other 3 battles did not occur during the Spanish-American war. For example, New Orleans, two battles occurred there (Battle of New Orleans (1815) and The Battle of New Orleans (1862) but we dont call the civil war battle of New Orleans the second battle do we. You only label a battle first second or third if the battles happened in the same war. This is how it has always been.
I think the guy who changed it to fourth is merely trying to show off his knowledge of the area instead of actually caring about historical fact. One more thing to the guy who changed this article, The battles of San Juan have the year written after them in the disambiguation page, that is also why you dont rename them first second third or whatever.
I would like to know why this page keeps getting reverted to the Puerto Rican Campaign article, that article is supposed to be a general overview of the campaign itself, and is not supposed to include specific details about each and every battle. User:XavierGreen —Preceding undated comment was added at 02:02, 1 August 2008 (UTC) This page should not be redirected to Third Battle of San Juan 1898 Instead it should remain here. Wikipedia's naming conventions for battles only use second, third, ect. if there are more than one battle at the same location during a war. See Battle of Havana and see the naming section of the article Battle. There were three naval battles at San Juan during the spanish american war, and this is the second of them. Sorry Tony the Marine, what that other guy meant is that this is the second battle of San Juan during Americas war with Spain. Try not to get so upset over specifics. Also, if you want to get specific, this would be the fifth battle of San Juan considering the English attacked again in 1598. Try actually researching before you start showing off. XavierGreen is right, it does now appear as though four battles of San Jauan occurred in 1898.—Preceding unsigned comment added by TJ13090 ( talk • contribs) 07:05, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
