why is it there appears to not be a Stearns and Foster page?
I see no evidence this was ever a cooperative enterprise, it appears he made a few patents and then purchased a company, leasing patents out to other markets. It may have been the latter action that someone confused with it being "cooperative" I think. As of March 2013, Sealy Inc. was acquired by rival Tempur-Pedic International. The new entity is Tempur Sealy Inc.

The Sealy Brand
The first Sealy mattresses were made in 1881, in a small town called ‘Sealy’ in Texas, USA. In 1950, Sealy introduced its first Sealy Posturepedic brand mattress, which focused on the importance of correct back support, designed in cooperation with Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Sealy in Australia
Sealy of Australia is a wholly Australia-owned company that began trading in Brisbane in 1923. The company originally built furniture and bedding components. In the late 1960's it began manufacturing the Sealy brand under licence from Sealy Inc. in the U.S.A.
With five manufacturing plants and over 750 employees around Australia, Sealy has achieved a reputation for professionalism and quality. For many years, the company’s flagship brand, Sealy Posturepedic, has been the number one selling premium bedding brand in Australia.
Growth in Asia
Sealy of Australia in partnership with Sealy Inc. (now Tempur Sealy International Inc.). expanded overseas in 2001, now selling Sealy products in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia, The Philippines, China and India.
