Overall: Not thrilled with the hook, but otherwise okay. If anyone else wants to approve the hook, please do. --

Some readers may know that Zender recently died, so it's meant as a little tribute, and that Neumeier is an enfant terrible of ballet. Readers who don't know Die Winterreise, one of the greatest song cycles there is, possibly the greatest, will not care about this wonderful singer anyway. --

I will pass Alt1, and offer Alt1a for the promoter. --

Sorry, I have problems with ALT1a. You wouldn't say "sang a version", and I miss "chamber orchestra" greatly. Did you read the review pointing out that it's a different soundworld? --

Gerda, do we really need all this detail in the hook? I would leave off the choreographer at the least. IMO it's not a very "hooky" fact to begin with.

I don't know how else to word that? Simply "ballet by" would for me be the composer.
Die Winterreise IS famous, IS Weir's piece, and ballet more unusual than with piano, no? --

I tried to trim the hook with my alternate, but would welcome the help. --

Gerda, he has such a varied career in so many countries and posts that it seems very limiting to just talk about this one performance. But I'm not going to waste time thinking up a hook because you so often reject whatever I suggest. Please think of something yourself that will have broader appeal. 21:27, 26 May 2020 (UTC)reply
When I list many aspects of a career, I get told to focus on one thing, and when I try to do that, it's again not right. I feel that an American singing a Romantic Austrian song cycle in a contemporary ballet/orchestra version in Hamburg is telling a lot about him. He was a teacher more than anything else, but some find teaching boring? --
Gerda Arendt (

Well, when you say it that way, I understand the hookiness. When you say it in a string of unfamiliar names and titles, I don't. So you want to write it this way?
