This article is a national disgrace! I have copied verbatim from the "Science and technology" section of South Africa and included it in addition to the list of points made here. I will improve this article when time permits. Although I doubt that Telkom, or Go Open Source warrant notability to be included here: this article is meant to document scientific and technological innovations. New announcement of a digital laser developed by a doctoral researcher at the CSIR after many others had tried and failed.
The system allows for beam mode and shape alteration by changing a holographic pattern on an interspersed LCD unit in the laser cavity beam.
