Article suggests the company has shut down solar operations. But /info/en/?search=List_of_photovoltaics_companies#Summary here is says it keeps working. Is it from China? 190.131.28.107 ( talk) 02:13, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

I was curious about the book used as a reference in the article, so I had it lent to my local library and consulted it there. The two authors, Kappler and Steiner, are/were public relations managers at Schott. The book is published by Schott AG. It describes the history of the company in broadly positive terms and is largely self-serving. This is definitely a primary source, and I would say, not one of the best kind.
For the anecdote, the book is binded with a plate of Ceran glass by Schott. It contains dozens of illustrations copied from Wikimedia Commons, all vaguely attributed but without mention of a license. -- Ariadacapo ( talk) 19:17, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I have made some changes to the article to address the issues identified in the maintenance template, in particular the self-published and primary sources in the history section. I understand that I can't remove the templates myself as a paid editor, but I was wondering if one of you would be able to take a look?
I would also like to better understand how I can contribute to resolving the "written like an advertisement" issue. Are there any particular formulations that I could improve? Elisabeth at SCHOTT ( talk) 09:21, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Per Spencer's request (see above), I would like to propose a couple of changes that I had made previously to the article, but were reverted for procedural reasons:
It would be great if someone could restore my edits. I feel that my edits are supported by credible secondary sources, and overall that they contribute to improving the article. If you have any questions or concerns, I am happy to discuss!

I don't think the changes above need additional references. However, the following source could be added. It mentions the gradual expansion as Schott grew into a multinational group, and it mentions Brazil as the first country of the expansion, hence the change from US to "the Americas" above): [1]

In the example above there are three references provided for the stated claims. But the text does not indicate, through the use of ref tags, which reference applies to which claim. Your edit request similarly does not provide ref tags indicating which source goes where. The links between material and their source references must be clearly made, as shown in the next example below:
In the example above the links between the provided references and their claim statements are perfectly clear. |

Hello editors, I've worked on the products section to improve the lack of references and marketing tonality, as well as to provide a better overview of the products and applications. This new draft should address these issues and is meant to replace the existing section:
In the consumer market, glass-ceramics from Schott are used in cooktops for electric, gas, and induction cooking under the brand name CERAN. [2]
In industry, its glass-ceramic Zerodur is used in microlithography and as mirror substrates for large optical telescopes. [3]
Prominent examples of these telescopes are the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope and Extremely Large Telescope in Chile, [3] the Gran Telescopio Canarias in Spain, [4] and the Keck I and II telescopes at the W.M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. [5]
Other applications include flat glass for home appliances, [6] components for consumer electronics [7] and semiconductor manufacturing [8]. It also produces glass and filters with applications in digital cameras, [9] laser optics, machine vision, and metrology. [10] Some of its more recent applications include ultra-thin and flexible cover glass for smartphone displays [11] and glass wafers for augmented reality. [12]
Schott’s subsidiary Schott Pharma develops and produces pharmaceutical packaging such as ampoules, cartridges, syringes, and vials. [13]

Hello editors, I noticed that the current article has predominently historical photos. I thought it would be an improvement to add some pictures to illustrate the products. I'd suggest adding the following pictures to the products section. Let me know what you think!
