Even though editing isn't prohibited during AFD discussion, I get that it can be seen as controversial or antagonistic, so just hear me out. Even if this article is Kept, it's still crap. So I tidied it and tightened the wording. I think the student body needs a ref, but I couldn't even find it on their own homepage.
Even though I'm a KEEP vote, this article set me to examine the rest of Guyana's school articles, and so far I've AFDd maybe 3 or 4? From having this broad-level (and totally unconnected) view of education in Guyana, I'd say this school is SLIGHTLY distinct from other schools for covering so many levels of education. Not a fact that incurs notability, but means there's wider potential for references. This contrasts with the spate of short-lived diploma mills that try to lure students from OUTSIDE of Guyana to get cheap (and questionable) diplomas. I also tightened Guyana's education categories to make these easier to find, and thus monitor. I've also combed the List of universities and colleges in Guyana and List of schools in Guyana. With Guyana's new oil money, I predict COI to become more problematic in Guyana's WP future, so these are worth watch-listing as well.
With my opinion on notability out of the way, I don't think Keep should protect the reputation of businesses, or serve to prop them or their non-notable founders up. I've cut the language to be dry and straight-forward. A section could be added for the shooting because it was well-publicized and there were articles about parents concerned about their kids in the school. Again, dry, factual. No point in waiting out an AFD and leaving a poor article on the main space.
Hopefully this makes sense in context of my edits, and hopefully opens the conversation before any reverts. Estheim ( talk) 16:06, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
I can't stop thinking about the spate of vandalism that happened in late 2018, when O'Toole was shot in January 2019. All the articles say it followed a bunch of angry social media posts (except for WP). I mean... that's a public IP post. Isn't that... um...? Is it worth an email to oversight?
