That is one big village! Grace Note 08:13, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Why was the DuPage county template in there. Schaumburg is in Cook county. I tried making it the Cook county template but either it doesn't exist or I did it wrong. Either way its better to have less information than wrong/misleading information. Chipotlehero 20:00, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
This page really needs a history of Schaumburg section
WWW.SCHAUMBURGWEB.COM - Town history, Links to specific events and information about Scahuamburg and the surrounding area.
There appears to be a chamber of commerce level of economic enthusiasm in the business section of this article.
I just removed a claim that the village's name was pronounced "SHAHM-burg". This is bizarre. Growing up in the area and even working there briefly, I never heard this pronunciation; both SHAWM-burg (IPA /ɔ/) and SHOWM-burg (IPA /ɑʊ/), but never SHAHM-burg (IPA /a/). I just removed the sentence, but I'd be curious to hear from whoever put it in there in the first place. / blahedo ( t) 01:19, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
How pronounced all I know being in Chicago is "Shahmburg" way - "a" as in father. IF I understand correct that is what is used in all advertising on radio, television, etc. That said, I don't know that it belongs on the page???? Is there reason it should be included.? I will not decide that... kidsheaven@gmail.com 22:03, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
It should be: "Schaumburg schall et heiten". This is wrong in the german article, too. See "Schaumburger Deutsch-Amerikanische Gesellschaft e.V." ( http://www.sdag-shg.de/shgill_gestern.htm). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.144.176.132 ( talk) 12:27, 1 April 2007 (UTC).
How big can a village be? Surely this place is a town or something? Yet it is being called village and city in the same paragraph! -- Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia ( talk) 18:26, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
According the the German Wikipedia Schaumburg has been granted (the) city rights 50 years ago.
So it might be a village, but the legal status is those of a town. —Preceding

Does the page really need to include a statement criticizing the public library's computer policies? This strikes me as editorial. Don Don ( talk) 21:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

On 19th-century maps of Illinois, both the village and the township were spelled Schaumberg. I have not researched the history of the name, but it clearly changed from SchaumBERG to SchaumBURG at some point in time, and a knowledgeable local historian is encouraged to add this bit of history to the article.
Taking this one step further, the German names in the article are spelled incorrectly.
Based on a quick Web search, the locale in Germany is spelled Grafschaft Schaumberg (not Schaumburg). The (apparently American) spelling of Grafschaft Schaumburg is widespread on the Web, however, including most related articles in Wikipedia. Perhaps folk etymology / spelling is the source of this apparent error; perhaps both spellings are now acceptable in Germany, which seems unlikely, given the difference in meaning of "berg" and "burg."

The first paragraph under the section Sarah's Grove is lifted verbatim from the source text. The Wikipedia text provided in that first paragraph provides no in-text attribution, no quotation marks, and no change in text. I have not compared the Wikipedia text in the History section with other sources, but I would predict that more of this cutting and pasting of source text exists. I don't think we should delete the entire section, but I think willing editors should help rewrite the Wikipedia text in their won words, and provide inline citations where needed. Hello fellow wikipedians!
I'd like your input on the infobox photo. I have placed in a infobox photo-montage. See https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Schaumburg,_Illinois&oldid=1056696595. @ Nkon21 believes that a grainy low res, very generic image of a sign is a better illustration. Thoughts?
