lOOK OUT FOR THE IDIOTIC AND RANDOM VANDALISM PERPETRATED BY THIS HALF-WIT or others using this IP address, 168.122.188.71. There have been several random changes to dates in the last 48 hours. Viva-Verdi 04:48, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Someone refers the opening night of the San Francisco Opera as the opening of the "San Francisco Social Season". There are many, myself included, who feel left out by this statement. People of all types socialize all year long; not just San Francisco opera buffs.
How do you define a 'social season"? Don't we socialize all year long?
Thank you,
Truly,

Folks: I had removed the reference to the San Francisco Social Season, but someone has returned it to the article. I don't know how to figger out who has done it. Is there any change that would entice someone to add that phrase into the article. Personally, I know of no one in my social circles who feels that it opens the 'social season'. Granted, I am in Bellingham, Washington and may see out of place, but I have friends in SF and this makes no sense to me. And here in Bellingham, when the theater season opens at the Bellingham Theater Guild (The main stage theater here), there is never been any reference that it opens the Social Season here in Bellingham.
I will not remove the phraise at this time (Sep 2, 2016), but I will await comments for a while and then make a decision.
Truly yours from Bellingham - - -

There have been many distasteful slanders posted on this Wikipedia Entry, and I believe it is quite unacceptable. I believe this is a sacred organization that should be protected from the horrors of the world wide web. Good day to you, sir. 199.80.226.18 ( talk) 20:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
I added info on the fact that David Gockley is leaving his post as general director of the opera and that Matthew Shilvock has been named as his replacement. SpiritedMichelle ( talk) 03:09, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
