Founded 1980 ... Balboa Park had a model railroad during the 1935-36 California Pacific International Exposition and in 1949, some of the fair's model builders moved their displays into the House of Charm. They vacated the building in 1978 in the wake of the Old Globe and Electric Building fires and moved into the Casa de Balboa basement in 1981.
