There are eight children here. John Brown Tomkins 1838–1865 mentioned there, dying young, apparently went to India in 1862. So that could be a health issue: I don't see him coming back.

The probate information mentions a widow. I have yet to see evidence that Tomkins married again after Jane died. Charles Matthews ( talk) 08:49, 7 December 2021 (UTC) reply
