A fact from Samuel Kamakau appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 5 December 2008, and was viewed approximately 383 times ( disclaimer) ( check views). The text of the entry was as follows: Did you know... that the Hawaii State Legislature declared October 29, 2005, " Samuel Kamakau Day," in recognition of the Hawaiian scholar who wrote over 200 articles about Hawaiian history? Working on articles in the Kaʻawaloa area on Kealakekua Bay I see many references to a "Chief Kamakau" just before him, and then I noticed the Kahikolu Church Cemetery record has a headstone of "Samuel M. Kamakau" with vital dates March 5, 1855 to October 10, 1932 as well as Sarah K. Kamakau (1881-1920) and Benjamin L. Kamakau (1855-1932). Wonder if they are realted.
