Misnamed union
The previous version of this article stated that Pollock was an officer in 'the United Food and Communication Workers Union." There is no such Union--the United Food and Commercial Workers Union came into being in 1979.several years after Pollock retired, when the Butchers merged with the Retail Clerks International Association to form the UFCW, which covered virtually all employees in grocery stores as well as packinghouses and other operations. The Meatcutters who opposed the merger liked to claim that the new union's initials stood for "You Fucking Clerks Won."
