This article needs a good photo or two. It would be interesting to see how the liner looked before the conversion. (On a semi-unrelsted note, apparently there was talk of converting the Queen Mary into an aircraft carrier, too, but this wound up not happening.) -- 24.21.148.155 ( talk) 22:51, 7 February 2009 (UTC) Gousinsaang ( talk) 15:02, 27 June 2018 (UTC) I have photos. The Wikimedia Commons people unceremoniously deleted them. If you want pictures, you may provide them.
The photos of Scharnhorst before conversion all seem to have copyright terms that preclude their use on Wikipedia. Gousinsaang ( talk) 12:44, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
I have an original lunch menu from the Scharnhorst dated January 1938. I tried to upload a photo of it but it was quickly rejected. It is not in copyright. I give up. Gousinsaang ( talk) 12:44, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

There is an article about Scharnhorst - text reads as follows:

Scharnhorst on May 8, and will be followed at the begin ning of July by the s.s. Potsdam. The third ship, the s.s. Gneisenau, the launching of which will take place shortly at a Bremen ship yard, will start out at the begin ning of December, ,1935. The schedule for the new Ger man Far East service, which has been definitely drawn up in all its details, lias been notably aug mented by the regular calling at Palma de Majorca and Naples, both on the outward and home ward voyages. , — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gousinsaang ( talk • contribs) 12:16, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
