What do you mean "converging fire"?
Dunno exactly what Wilson was talking about - he doesn't really explain what he meant and there isn't a whole lot of context to go on. I assume he meant something along the lines of raking fire, but I figured I ought to use the phrase he did to avoid over-interpreting it.
Wilson revised and expanded his earlier books in the two volume set Battleships in Action originally published in the '20s and republished by the Naval Institute Press/Conways in '95. Might be worthwhile to get a hold of a copy (really all you need is volume 1 as that covers everything up to the Russo-Japanese War) and see if there were any significant changes made to his earlier account.--
