A nice summary of the history of SICStus Prolog can be found in
Both Mats Carlsson and Per Milder are *employees* of SICS. But nevertheless there is a nice summary on page 2. SICStus Prolog started in 1985, and it is that SICS acquired Quintus Prolog in 1998, but still SICStus Prolog is an own breed.
