I added some content to this article, and removed Billy Ray Cyrus from Russell's list of notable people. Cyrus only attended school in Russell, and nothing on his Wiki page mentions Russell. I also added a Medal of Honor recipient to Russell's list of notable people. Richard Apple ( talk) 00:35, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
If it is removed, someone kindly restore the hatnote dabbing this Russell from the very similar Russell County (also called "Russell"); Russellville (which might otherwise be thought by nonnatives to be another name for the same place); and Russell Springs.
If Mr. Apple really dislikes the page beginning with a mention of other communities, a compromise could be to link to them in the see-also section; but (as the link he provided clearly shows) the Wiki-wide policy is to lead with the dabs. Russell County certainly needs to be there, & my thought is that we should include the other cities when we do. — LlywelynII 04:36, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
I saw we have a somewhat reliable source (the city's official website) for the idea that the location was thought helpful against Indian attack in 1823. That said, could we get a better source and describe what Indians were still in the area to do the attacking? My impression was that this part of the state had been overrun for decades by that point. — LlywelynII 04:36, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
