To any Northumbrian The 5th are the RNF sentiment apart a good idea js1 21:04, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi,
I have a medal from the second Afghan War of 1878 which belongs to Private S Uswin and would love to find out more information about him and the batallion's record in this particular war. Anyone able to help? My email is -redacted-. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.105.118.8 ( talk) 11:27, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Dear readers, editors and administrators
I am researching my great uncle who served with the NF in Salonika in 1915-1916. Please note that the link to "Balkans Campaign" under 2nd Battalion, between "Battle of Loos" and "Battle of Doiran", creates a link to the a page concerning hostilities and actions in WWII ... This is clearly an error, the correct link is missing.
I don't know how to proceed from here, and am reluctant to remove this without having something to suggest in its place???

Dear Mr. Sweeney Thank you for replacing the link, and so speedily too. Well done. Nice to see that some people are on the ball.

The Fifth (Northumberland) Regiment were granted the distinction of being a Fusilier regiment in 1836, becoming thereafter the 5th Regiment of Foot (Northumberland Fusiliers). The latter was the title adopted in 1881 when regimental numbers were abolished. JF42 ( talk) 17:08, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure if this belongs here, but Dr. John Watson (fictional doctor associated with Sherlock Holmes), was "duly attached to the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers as Assistant Surgeon." [1]
Does this belong in this article? Thank you! Crusherdave ( talk) 14:38, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
There ought to be some mention of their involvement in the Aden Emergency, just before the evacuation of the colony. Valetude ( talk) 10:43, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
